Looking ahead – a snapshot of 2024
In 2024, together with our customers, partners, and broader network, we at Owatec achieved significant milestones in turning wastewater into valuable resources. With expanded operations, growing expertise, and strengthened global collaborations, we continue to lead the way in enabling green transition solutions. Here are the highlights from the year.
Expanding expertise and international growth
Our team grew from 17 to 23 skilled professionals this year thanks to strategic decisions and targeted investments. Our team at the field gained valuable new expertise, including pump installation and maintenance skills, while our sales team welcomed two new members to strengthen our customer engagement and support. Additionally, our finance team was strengthened by hiring an in-house accountant, which improved the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operations.
These developments, combined with strategic acquisitions like Norfit Oy and the establishment of Owatec Service as a subsidiary, are laying a solid foundation for both domestic growth and international expansion. Our partnership with Sulzer has also brought us valuable new collaborators, such as Dawcul, to strengthen our international sales efforts and open new opportunities in global markets. Together, these partnerships and investments are driving our mission to deliver impactful water treatment solutions worldwide.
Measuring and reducing our environmental impact
This year, we conducted our carbon footprint calculation for the second time, providing critical insights into our environmental performance. By analyzing our operations, we’ve identified actionable steps to further reduce emissions and strengthen our positive environmental impact – our carbon handprint.

Delivering comprehensive water management solutions for all needs
As we move into 2025, we remain committed to driving innovation and delivering impactful solutions for our customers and partners. One of our key objectives for the coming year is to develop our solution-based concept further, offering customers an enhanced all-in-one package for water treatment. This holistic approach incorporates all stages of water management into a single, seamless solution, including cleantech delivery and implementation, process maintenance, and chemical optimization.
By combining modular cleantech with expert process operation and pump maintenance, we aim to ensure the optimal functionality, energy efficiency, and reliability of water treatment systems. Additionally, our laboratory analyses and optimization services allow us to deliver precise, cost-effective solutions that improve process efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
With strengthened partnerships, such as those established with Sulzer and Dawcul, we are also focusing on expanding our international reach and providing industries worldwide with solutions that meet their growing needs for sustainable water management. Together, we look forward to continuing this journey, tackling challenges, and creating positive change for a better future.

The year 2024 brought significant changes to our collaboration structures. Sulzer AG became our majority owner, leading to Nordic Option and other smaller investors stepping aside. This shift, combined with the resilience and determination that define ‘Finnish ‘’sisu’’, has brought us to where we are today.
